Thankful Thursday Plus A Recap...

Good morning, everyone! I know it has been a while since you've heard from me. Almost a month ago, my dear uncle died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the young age of 45. This has devastated my family. Please pray for peace and comfort. We know he was saved and is now in the heavenly kingdom.

It is Thursday after all, so let's get into another Thankful Thursday post, shall we?

In no particular order:

  1. My health. I try not to take it for granted. I want to take care of my body and mind so that I can live a healthy life.
  2. This perfect relaxing morning has been such a treat. It is just what I needed. It's just the pets and me. I started a load of laundry while my latte was brewing, had a great quiet time, and now I'm back on my blog. The weather dropped a couple days ago here in Portsmouth, and we have our windows opened. It's still nice out, but there is a crispness in the air... perfect.
  3. My husband is always wonderful and dreamy, but he really came through for my family and me when we lost my uncle. I know how blessed I am to have him. I can't really explain something he did or said, it was just his peaceful, supportive, stable presence. Or something like that. It's difficult to describe but it was him being him for me and my family.
  4. My house is my favorite place to be right now. I love the beach, I love downtown, but right now, sitting in my living room with my dogs and cat, beside my basket of yarn, I am so content.
  5. Fall is almost here. I already have two small pumpkins out, two fall candles and I've had dozens of PSLs. I love pre-fall so much. The anticipation of actual fall. We've already watched a couple of pre-season Bengals games.
  6. My sister is going through a huge life change right now. About a week before we lost my uncle, her relationship ended, and she began looking for a new place to live. I knew she'd been dealing with something weeks before that, and with everything else that happened to our family, I know she is really going through it now. She has managed to find a new house that she is painting and cleaning up now. I am so proud of her. She is so smart and independent. I know she is going to be okay with her dachshund, Poppie, and orange cat, Gretchen, in their new home.
  7. My Granny has been very strong throughout all of this. She has incredibly strong faith and I believe that is what is getting her through this.
  8. My mom has been struggling a lot with losing her brother. I can't imagine losing my sibling. I am trying to be there for her to the best of my abilities. I know she will get through it. We just need to keep going.
  9. My cousin's wedding in 9 weeks! I am excited to go back down to VA to celebrate my cousin and his beautiful bride. I am in the wedding, and I am so honored to be a part of this celebration.
  10. Taylor Swift's new album announcement was such a wonderful surprise. I am excited for October 3rd for many reasons now! (I also love Mean Girls)
I will be consistent once again with my blog. I am excited for this lovely time of year. I have so many topics I want to write about.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful Thankful Thursday

Our Last Monday in August

Good morning! I am glad you're here 😄. Today I want to talk about what I am currently crocheting. Grab your crochet hooks, a cup of coffee, and let's get into it! I took this a few weeks ago, one Sunday evening. Thomas and I were hanging out on the deck with our dogs, enjoying the warm weather. I should be finishing up with these hot-girl squares and I'll let you know what I make of them! I learned how to make a new hot-girl square... a skull hot-girl square! They are so cute and so much easier than I thought they would be! I decided to learn how to make them one morning a couple weeks ago when Thomas and I were at the beach. It was a perfect morning. We grabbed iced lattes and acai bowls from our favorite beachside cafe, and enjoyed the entire morning in the sand.  My first one kind of resembled a storm trooper, but I have gotten a little better since this picture! I also decided that I am going to make blankets for my family and friends. I have mentioned this before, b...

Fall 2025 Goals!

Hello! I don't know about you, but I am absolutely ready for this long weekend. I have had a crazy week at work.  Anyway, I want to dedicate this post to my Fall 2025 Goals!  In no particular order, here is a list of some of my goals: 1. Decorate - I want to go all out this year. I have a blow up Snoopy and Great Pumpkin inflatable in my Walmart shopping cart online. I want to have a pretty assortment of pumpkins out on my stoop. Last year, we didn't really have decorations up for the trick-or-treaters, and I want to go all out this year. I will definitely be posting pictures of my progress! 2. Watch lots of football - This will be easy as my husband, Thomas, has an entire room in our house dedicated to watching games. Of course, I will be crocheting blankets while he has the game on tv.  3. Dress up for Halloween - We will probably go to one of our friend's Halloween parties this year, and I am excited to dress up! I'm not sure what Thomas and I will go as, but I am ex...

Decor, Discipline, and Maybe even a Scented Candle🍂🕯️

Good morning, reader! I feel a mindful essay coming on! Grab a coffee and maybe a notebook, because this essay has some numbered bullet points!  I have been thinking about discipline a lot lately. I feel like it goes hand in hand with attention span, self-awareness, and ambition. Is it becoming more and more rare? They say with smart phones, everyone's attention spans are diminishing. I have noticed this with myself sometimes. This is not a judgement- just an observation I've made about myself and the world around me. And I want to refine it for myself. I want to be disciplined so that I can live my dream life.  I am dedicating this post to 3 ways to be more disciplined in a world that has little to none. So, let's begin! 1. Why do you want this? I believe you should first recognize why you want to achieve something. Is it for your health? Is it for your career? Maybe it's less extreme than that. Maybe it's for your home to be decorated for Halloween. Whatever it ...
