Spring Has Me Writing Again πŸŒΌπŸ’›

It has been a while, but I am back! It is so nice to be typing here again. After a busy fall, a holiday season that didn't slow down for a minute, and the harshest winter I've ever lived through, I finally feel like I can breathe, and write, again. I will do a quick recap of my life and then explain my plans for the future of this blog.  So, since my last post was in October, life has been full. Here's a little peek at what's been happening behind the scenes: 1. My cousin's wedding was a success! It was beautiful and now they are actually pregnant!!! I can't wait to meet their baby girl.  2. Thomas and I were fortunate to be a part of our friends' engagement that took place in Boston in December! It was so much fun celebrating the two of them and surprising the bride to be! Now I am excited to help her plan their wedding for next year! 3. I'm changing my career from retail pharmacy to hospital inpatient pharmacy! I start in exactly 3 weeks from today. ...

Things That Will Always Make Me Happy

Good morning! Today, I want to write about a few things that will ALWAYS make me happy. We need some extra happiness today, so I'll be looking for these things: 1. Coffee! In the morning, afternoon, evening, literally whenever. There is never a  wrong  time for a cup. It's the cozy hug in a mug you didn't know you needed. It's the flavor of the season (peppermint, pumpkin, or lavender depending on the time of year).  2. Coming home at the end of a long day. This is where my chaos and anxiety melt away into peace. I love coming home. My little family is here, greeting me at the door with wagging tails.  3. Reading/flipping through a magazine. Since I was in middle school, I have loved a good magazine. The articles and fashion- it's almost like Pinterest! There's something nostalgic about the glossy pages, flipping back and forth. Oooh, I could get lost in some.  4. Buying yarn! Looking at all of the beautiful colors, neatly wound up into skeins. It's such ...

Dear Future Me...

Dear Future Me,  Written on a quiet September morning, I am writing a letter to the future me, maybe 10 years from now. I hope you are still writing blog posts! This has been a passion project, no real deadlines or stress, but something that is enjoyable to me. It makes me feel like I'm able to let out some of the pent up urge to just write! I've filled up plenty of diaries over the years, but my blog feels more creative. I like being creative.  Some things I want to you to remember about me, now that your 10 years older, is that I really love my house. I love our yard, our neighborhood, our city. It's magical here, especially in the summer and fall. I try to sit outside for a couple hours most days. I have been crocheting a lot lately, trying to get some blankets made. I hope you're faster than I am now!  I wonder if you're taking naps on your days off work, assuming we still have the same job. I used to nap every single day off, now I never nap. I just drink mor...

My Life in 10 Songs (As of Today)

Happy Tuesday! I feel like today is going to be a relaxing day in my house, and I am okay with that. I did go to Bible study this morning at my church. I will be trying to tidy up the house for our company this weekend throughout the day, and I would like to pop into work for a couple hours to help out this evening, but it will be a great, relaxing day. Wanna know why? Because even though I am doing all of this stuff,   I am relaxed.  Circumstances don't have to dictate my life. My experience.  Anyway, enough of the serious talk. Today's post is going to be a list of songs that I believe would be included on the soundtrack to my life, as of today! I'll list 10 songs and the reasons behind each choice! 1. Boondocks by Little Big Town This song makes me think of being from a small town in VA, where you really are in another world. Not that Portsmouth NH is some big city, but compared to where I'm from, it is! I'm proud to be from Whitewood VA, in the heart of Appala...

Flashback Friday!

Alright! So today is a  Flashback Friday  post, and I'm going to write about one that I feel like anyone can relate to... Let's talk about Football Fridays! I remember how busy my Fridays were in high school. Now, I am busy every other Friday, working late and into the weekend. It kind of feels the same. Eh, maybe not quite- but let's keep going! Anyway, I remember how excited I would be getting ready for school on football Fridays. I was both a cheerleader and a band member, so I knew I had a lot to do for the whole day, especially if we had a pep rally. I basically didn't get to sit down from the time I got out of school until I went to bed. I was up doing something the whole time. And that's not even counting the early Saturday morning band competitions! This was one of our first band festivals as a couple! Thomas and I are high school sweet hearts πŸ’œ Here I am trying to make sure everyone is in their spot for the dance routine! Our very purple uniform closet...

10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me!

Welcome back!  Today's post is all about 10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me! I found a few different "get to know a person" questionnaires on Pinterest, and kind of made my own. So, without further ado, here are 10 things about me!  1. I LOVE shoes. Especially heels. I love wearing heels when I go out. Being 5'2", I like being a little taller when I'm around my friends. I think shoes make the outfit. If you're wearing jeans and a sweater, why not add boots with a heel to make it more feminine?  2. I love old movies. Black and white movies are so fun to watch. I used to always have TCM on tv, just letting old movie after old movie play. I love how actors and actresses used to speak. I guess that was just how they talked, but it's so interesting to me now. I especially love James Stewart and Audrey Hepburn.  This was the day after Thomas proposed to me in his first apartment. You can see the Audrey Hepburn and  It's A Wonderful Life...
