10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me!

  Welcome back!

Today's post is all about 10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me! I found a few different "get to know a person" questionnaires on Pinterest, and kind of made my own. So, without further ado, here are 10 things about me!

1. I LOVE shoes. Especially heels. I love wearing heels when I go out. Being 5'2", I like being a little taller when I'm around my friends. I think shoes make the outfit. If you're wearing jeans and a sweater, why not add boots with a heel to make it more feminine?

2. I love old movies. Black and white movies are so fun to watch. I used to always have TCM on tv, just letting old movie after old movie play. I love how actors and actresses used to speak. I guess that was just how they talked, but it's so interesting to me now. I especially love James Stewart and Audrey Hepburn.

This was the day after Thomas proposed to me in his first apartment. You can see the Audrey Hepburn and It's A Wonderful Life posters on the shelves!

3. I change my hair every now and then. I just get tired of seeing the same hair in the mirror. I will scroll through my favorite app in the world, Pinterest, and find a picture of hair that I love and I go for it. I show my hair girl the picture and she makes it happen! I know it takes some people a while to get used to my new hair, but I, so far, instantly love it. I am just excited for the change of scenery on my head!

4. What would I do if I had $1 million... I like this question a lot. My husband and I were actually just talking about it. I decided that if I came across a million dollars, I would definitely give some money to my mom and stepdad, my sister, my granny, and my in-laws. Probably like $100,000 each or something like that. I would pay off our student loans. I would see what's left and put it towards our house. I would like to go to part time for work and then hopefully start having babies! It's not a super cool answer, but this would be a dream come true for me.

5. The first guest I would have if I ever had a talk show... This is a hard one. I would like to talk to so many people. I guess I would like to interview someone who could tell a lot of funny stories. Someone who is wise, who could pass on some advice to me. I think I would choose Dolly Parton. She's lived, from what I can tell, a successful, fun life. I think I have some things to take away from a good conversation with her. I would want to gain a lot from this interview, selfishly, but I would want it to be a good conversation as well. We are both Appalachian girls, so we'd have that in common! I got to read a little bit about her in Whiskey in a Teacup, and I feel like she has a lot of wisdom.

6. If I could be good at anything, I would like to be a great baker. I want to be able to bake pies, cakes, and all other sweet treats. I love, love, love having a cup of coffee and something sweet after dinner. Oh who am I kidding, I love it any time of day, really. This way, I could whip it up myself instead of having to eat something storebought.

7. My love language is receiving gifts. I kind of hate that this is it, but it is. I don't know what it is, but receiving a little gift, even something that seems insignificant, makes me feel so special. I feel like receiving gifts seems so childish or superficial, but when I learned it was an actual love language, I felt a little better about it. Ironically enough, I am a terrible gift giver. I never know what to get for people. I always find stuff I would like, but I just can't ever find the right thing.

8. My biggest fear is people thinking I'm lazy or undeserving. I try so hard to make sure I'm not being lazy. I want everyone to see that I am earning what I have. I see being called lazy as one of the worst insults. To me, it implies that there is work to be done, and you're not doing it. You're expecting someone else to? I don't know.

9. My favorite Bible verse... I have a lot, but my favorite one is Psalm 56:3. It was the first verse I ever memorized. I used to be afraid of the dark and my mom told me that if I could remember this verse, I wouldn't be afraid anymore. It helped me then with the dark and it still helps me today with grown up problems.

10. The best compliment I could receive is that I am a hard worker; that I am very efficient. I like being told I'm working hard. This may be a result of graduating college when the hustle and grind culture really took over. But for me, it isn't just work. I want to be a hard worker at home too. I want the house cleaned, laundry put away, grocery shopping done, and dinner ready! I want to do a good job at everything!

I had a lot of fun answering these questions today! I hope you enjoyed reading about me. I will see you tomorrow for a fun post about my fur babies!

Our Last Monday in August

Good morning! I am glad you're here 😄. Today I want to talk about what I am currently crocheting. Grab your crochet hooks, a cup of coffee, and let's get into it! I took this a few weeks ago, one Sunday evening. Thomas and I were hanging out on the deck with our dogs, enjoying the warm weather. I should be finishing up with these hot-girl squares and I'll let you know what I make of them! I learned how to make a new hot-girl square... a skull hot-girl square! They are so cute and so much easier than I thought they would be! I decided to learn how to make them one morning a couple weeks ago when Thomas and I were at the beach. It was a perfect morning. We grabbed iced lattes and acai bowls from our favorite beachside cafe, and enjoyed the entire morning in the sand.  My first one kind of resembled a storm trooper, but I have gotten a little better since this picture! I also decided that I am going to make blankets for my family and friends. I have mentioned this before, b...

Fall 2025 Goals!

Hello! I don't know about you, but I am absolutely ready for this long weekend. I have had a crazy week at work.  Anyway, I want to dedicate this post to my Fall 2025 Goals!  In no particular order, here is a list of some of my goals: 1. Decorate - I want to go all out this year. I have a blow up Snoopy and Great Pumpkin inflatable in my Walmart shopping cart online. I want to have a pretty assortment of pumpkins out on my stoop. Last year, we didn't really have decorations up for the trick-or-treaters, and I want to go all out this year. I will definitely be posting pictures of my progress! 2. Watch lots of football - This will be easy as my husband, Thomas, has an entire room in our house dedicated to watching games. Of course, I will be crocheting blankets while he has the game on tv.  3. Dress up for Halloween - We will probably go to one of our friend's Halloween parties this year, and I am excited to dress up! I'm not sure what Thomas and I will go as, but I am ex...

Decor, Discipline, and Maybe even a Scented Candle🍂🕯️

Good morning, reader! I feel a mindful essay coming on! Grab a coffee and maybe a notebook, because this essay has some numbered bullet points!  I have been thinking about discipline a lot lately. I feel like it goes hand in hand with attention span, self-awareness, and ambition. Is it becoming more and more rare? They say with smart phones, everyone's attention spans are diminishing. I have noticed this with myself sometimes. This is not a judgement- just an observation I've made about myself and the world around me. And I want to refine it for myself. I want to be disciplined so that I can live my dream life.  I am dedicating this post to 3 ways to be more disciplined in a world that has little to none. So, let's begin! 1. Why do you want this? I believe you should first recognize why you want to achieve something. Is it for your health? Is it for your career? Maybe it's less extreme than that. Maybe it's for your home to be decorated for Halloween. Whatever it ...
