Flashback Friday!

Alright! So today is a Flashback Friday post, and I'm going to write about one that I feel like anyone can relate to... Let's talk about Football Fridays! I remember how busy my Fridays were in high school. Now, I am busy every other Friday, working late and into the weekend. It kind of feels the same. Eh, maybe not quite- but let's keep going!

Anyway, I remember how excited I would be getting ready for school on football Fridays. I was both a cheerleader and a band member, so I knew I had a lot to do for the whole day, especially if we had a pep rally. I basically didn't get to sit down from the time I got out of school until I went to bed. I was up doing something the whole time. And that's not even counting the early Saturday morning band competitions!

This was one of our first band festivals as a couple! Thomas and I are high school sweet hearts 💜

Here I am trying to make sure everyone is in their spot for the dance routine!

Our very purple uniform closet!

I definitely don't miss high school or anything like that, but I do like to remember the comradery of it all. People talking all day about who's riding with who to the game or if so-and-so is going to break up with someone after the game. I don't know, something about the high school drama but in a theme of football is just entertaining to remember.

This may have been an away game or a band festival picture. I was drum major that year!

Thomas graduated high school the year before me, so here he is not in a band uniform when I won homecoming queen!

My sister, Rachel, was in marching band with me for my senior year!

Some of the football team and other cheerleaders and I doing a dance for the pep rally!

The morning would start with the morning announcements at school "good morning, Twin Valley High, tonight in the billion-dollar coal fields your mighty panthers take on the *insert other school mascot* ". This was a football Friday tradition. Now I should maybe mention that my high school wasn't the big football school back home, but the games were still so much fun for me. As I mentioned, I was busy for the whole game. I would be cheering for 4 quarters and playing a field show for half time! Plus, I would have to quickly chat with some buddies to see if so-and-so was really going to break up with someone!

All in all, my high school football Fridays were busy but still fun. Now, every other Friday I either work 9-3 or 12-8. Still busy, but not as much fun. I try to make the most of it though! I may not have pep rallies or half time shows, but I do have my three furry fans waiting at home!

Our Last Monday in August

Good morning! I am glad you're here 😄. Today I want to talk about what I am currently crocheting. Grab your crochet hooks, a cup of coffee, and let's get into it! I took this a few weeks ago, one Sunday evening. Thomas and I were hanging out on the deck with our dogs, enjoying the warm weather. I should be finishing up with these hot-girl squares and I'll let you know what I make of them! I learned how to make a new hot-girl square... a skull hot-girl square! They are so cute and so much easier than I thought they would be! I decided to learn how to make them one morning a couple weeks ago when Thomas and I were at the beach. It was a perfect morning. We grabbed iced lattes and acai bowls from our favorite beachside cafe, and enjoyed the entire morning in the sand.  My first one kind of resembled a storm trooper, but I have gotten a little better since this picture! I also decided that I am going to make blankets for my family and friends. I have mentioned this before, b...

Fall 2025 Goals!

Hello! I don't know about you, but I am absolutely ready for this long weekend. I have had a crazy week at work.  Anyway, I want to dedicate this post to my Fall 2025 Goals!  In no particular order, here is a list of some of my goals: 1. Decorate - I want to go all out this year. I have a blow up Snoopy and Great Pumpkin inflatable in my Walmart shopping cart online. I want to have a pretty assortment of pumpkins out on my stoop. Last year, we didn't really have decorations up for the trick-or-treaters, and I want to go all out this year. I will definitely be posting pictures of my progress! 2. Watch lots of football - This will be easy as my husband, Thomas, has an entire room in our house dedicated to watching games. Of course, I will be crocheting blankets while he has the game on tv.  3. Dress up for Halloween - We will probably go to one of our friend's Halloween parties this year, and I am excited to dress up! I'm not sure what Thomas and I will go as, but I am ex...

Decor, Discipline, and Maybe even a Scented Candle🍂🕯️

Good morning, reader! I feel a mindful essay coming on! Grab a coffee and maybe a notebook, because this essay has some numbered bullet points!  I have been thinking about discipline a lot lately. I feel like it goes hand in hand with attention span, self-awareness, and ambition. Is it becoming more and more rare? They say with smart phones, everyone's attention spans are diminishing. I have noticed this with myself sometimes. This is not a judgement- just an observation I've made about myself and the world around me. And I want to refine it for myself. I want to be disciplined so that I can live my dream life.  I am dedicating this post to 3 ways to be more disciplined in a world that has little to none. So, let's begin! 1. Why do you want this? I believe you should first recognize why you want to achieve something. Is it for your health? Is it for your career? Maybe it's less extreme than that. Maybe it's for your home to be decorated for Halloween. Whatever it ...
