My Life in 10 Songs (As of Today)

Happy Tuesday! I feel like today is going to be a relaxing day in my house, and I am okay with that. I did go to Bible study this morning at my church. I will be trying to tidy up the house for our company this weekend throughout the day, and I would like to pop into work for a couple hours to help out this evening, but it will be a great, relaxing day. Wanna know why? Because even though I am doing all of this stuff, I am relaxed. Circumstances don't have to dictate my life. My experience.

Anyway, enough of the serious talk. Today's post is going to be a list of songs that I believe would be included on the soundtrack to my life, as of today! I'll list 10 songs and the reasons behind each choice!

1. Boondocks by Little Big Town

This song makes me think of being from a small town in VA, where you really are in another world. Not that Portsmouth NH is some big city, but compared to where I'm from, it is! I'm proud to be from Whitewood VA, in the heart of Appalachia.

2. Dreams by the Cranberries

As you know, dreaming is kind of my whole thing. I love dreaming and I have always LOVED this song. It always puts me in a good mood. I feel inspired and creative after listening to it!

3. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart by Taylor Swift

This song makes me feel like I'm not alone in trying to hustle my way through hard times. Sometimes I feel like people just crash and stop. I don't. I'm afraid to stop. If I ever crash, I just keep going like nothing is wrong!

4. Make Me Wanna by Thomas Rhett

Ahh, I love Thomas Rhett! This is one of my favorites of his. It's so catchy and I can listen to it any time. It's a little dancy, it's fun. I love this song. I've seen him perform it live a couple times too!

5. Dancing Queen by ABBA

I don't know a soul who doesn't love this song. For as long as I can remember, I've always liked this song. It's one of those anytime-you-hear-it-you-must-sing-or-dance songs. It speaks to me for sure.

6. 2am by Slightly Stoopid

So this song is what I would consider cheeky. The little saxophone riff that is basically the entire song is soooo catchy and, to me, cheeky! It makes me happy and smile. I feel fun when I listen to it. I have said before that if I ever was put in charge of putting music with scenes in a movie, this would be the song playing during the kissy, after the date, they're hooking up scene. Just the beginning without the singing. I think it would be cute for main character's flashbacks to said date night, too.

7. Could You Be Loved by Bob Marley

In the summer, I love reggae. This song is my beach song. I feel like it is summer, and I can relax when I'm in my beach chair, drinking my iced coffee or cold beer, looking out into the water, with this song playing.

8. I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston

Much like Dancing Queen, this song will pull everyone onto the dancefloor. I have a memory from my wedding. This song played during our reception, and everyone was dancing and singing. My family mixed around with Thomas' family, all belting out the lyrics. This is a universally loved song.

9. We R Who We R by Ke$ha

This song makes me think of being in high school. I used to love this song. I like nostalgic songs. I would listen to it through my earbuds on the bus or on the way to some ballgame. Now I can listen to it when I'm going to work or something, and it makes me feel like a teenager. It's just a fun memory song.

10. Heart of Glass by Blondie

When I was little, I had a Hannah Montana barbie doll. I cut her hair off so she could be Debbie Harry. I have always loved Blondie! This was my first favorite Blondie song. Anytime I hear it, I feel so cool because I made my own Blondie barbie!

That is all for today. I hope you liked reading about my random assortment of songs for my life's soundtrack!

See you tomorrow!

xoxo

Our Last Monday in August

Good morning! I am glad you're here 😄. Today I want to talk about what I am currently crocheting. Grab your crochet hooks, a cup of coffee, and let's get into it! I took this a few weeks ago, one Sunday evening. Thomas and I were hanging out on the deck with our dogs, enjoying the warm weather. I should be finishing up with these hot-girl squares and I'll let you know what I make of them! I learned how to make a new hot-girl square... a skull hot-girl square! They are so cute and so much easier than I thought they would be! I decided to learn how to make them one morning a couple weeks ago when Thomas and I were at the beach. It was a perfect morning. We grabbed iced lattes and acai bowls from our favorite beachside cafe, and enjoyed the entire morning in the sand.  My first one kind of resembled a storm trooper, but I have gotten a little better since this picture! I also decided that I am going to make blankets for my family and friends. I have mentioned this before, b...

Fall 2025 Goals!

Hello! I don't know about you, but I am absolutely ready for this long weekend. I have had a crazy week at work.  Anyway, I want to dedicate this post to my Fall 2025 Goals!  In no particular order, here is a list of some of my goals: 1. Decorate - I want to go all out this year. I have a blow up Snoopy and Great Pumpkin inflatable in my Walmart shopping cart online. I want to have a pretty assortment of pumpkins out on my stoop. Last year, we didn't really have decorations up for the trick-or-treaters, and I want to go all out this year. I will definitely be posting pictures of my progress! 2. Watch lots of football - This will be easy as my husband, Thomas, has an entire room in our house dedicated to watching games. Of course, I will be crocheting blankets while he has the game on tv.  3. Dress up for Halloween - We will probably go to one of our friend's Halloween parties this year, and I am excited to dress up! I'm not sure what Thomas and I will go as, but I am ex...

Decor, Discipline, and Maybe even a Scented Candle🍂🕯️

Good morning, reader! I feel a mindful essay coming on! Grab a coffee and maybe a notebook, because this essay has some numbered bullet points!  I have been thinking about discipline a lot lately. I feel like it goes hand in hand with attention span, self-awareness, and ambition. Is it becoming more and more rare? They say with smart phones, everyone's attention spans are diminishing. I have noticed this with myself sometimes. This is not a judgement- just an observation I've made about myself and the world around me. And I want to refine it for myself. I want to be disciplined so that I can live my dream life.  I am dedicating this post to 3 ways to be more disciplined in a world that has little to none. So, let's begin! 1. Why do you want this? I believe you should first recognize why you want to achieve something. Is it for your health? Is it for your career? Maybe it's less extreme than that. Maybe it's for your home to be decorated for Halloween. Whatever it ...
